My name is Brad Lehman, and I am the editor of this website. The work being done here reflects my interest and experience in the following three areas:
> Big Picture human civilization/behavior - World markets
> Customer Service - Mapping Customer and Employee Journeys
> Approach/Avoid - Coming from economics (Opportunity cost of decision making)
The human behavior work on a society and self level was twofold. I wanted to better understand the world, and I wanted to help my son. Sadly, I lost Jack, and the work of this website and quest to help others is dedicated to him.
My initial interest in Society Awareness came from my experience of being a Bond Trader. Getting an in-depth understanding of the world was important for the position. You will see a lot of that learning in the Big Picture page and Blog to assist you with adaptation ideas and content. I also have had an interest in Customer Service for many years - my current field of work.
The Detached Observation focus, along with a study into Self Awareness, came to life as I asked multiple questions, including, why do two people not see the world the same, and can spend a whole lifetime being the opposite ends of thoughts and issues? Using Detached Observation helped me discover more about how's and the why's.
The research into the areas listed above got me to focus on the most recent area, and that is the topic of approach-avoid. As a society, an organization, or as an individual, there is one approach path every day. Everything else is avoided. Society is a collection of all the organizations and individuals approaches and avoids during whatever period you are reflecting on. Since the world is connected, the study of world approach/avoid is important to better understanding individual approach/avoid.
Thank you for visiting this site, and also thank you to all those who work with ApproachAvoid.com. The work being done here is my approach for my remaining days. By working together to improve moments/experiences and help one another adapt to change, we can do our part to improve the world around us.

Approach/Avoid Website and Work Dedicated to my late son Jack.

Dedication

About ApproachAvoid.com
My experience within the financial markets and in customer service has lead me to this point where I wanted to build a business that both educates and serves.
As mentioned above, we are focused on two main objectives:
1. Improve Customer and Employee Experiences
There are multiple ways to better understand the world and how to improve customer and employee experiences. This site and the services offered focus on the concept of approaching and avoiding. All day, every day, we approach:
Organizations
People
Places
Ideas
Thoughts
Products
Services
Customers either purchase your organizations products and/or services (approach)
or they do not (avoid)
Employees work for your organization (approach)
or they do not (avoid)
We can take it a step further - as an example, an employee works for your organization and puts full energy towards their tasks (approach, approach), or they are not motivated and do the basic minimum (approach, avoid)
2. Adapting to Change
Human Society, Nations, Organizations, and Individuals are all attempting to survive and adapt to change. Due to the math of exponential and quick change, this can be quite challenging.
A way to explore and understand both current and potential change is to use the concept of approach-avoid. To provide you a quick summary of yesterdays world, every person on the planet approached/avoided all day and the sum of their actions determined the human equation of history for what happened yesterday.
Breaking this equation down can assist your organization in better adapting to the quick, and sometimes exponential, change that is coming our way.
Mapping
A way to improve human moments/experiences and assist in understanding/adapting to change is to use maps. Over time, you will be provided with plenty of ideas here for you to use as a tool to accomplish these objectives.
We focus on variations of Touchpoint (Moment) and Experience Maps along with Change and Risk Maps.
Thank you for taking the time to visit this site!
We invite you to reach out at any time with questions and interest in our mapping services.
