STATEMENT
> Knowledge takes a long time to disseminate into the public sphere
The amount of knowledge about the human self, our earth, and the universe has advanced dramatically over the last 100-plus years. This knowledge will continue to move forward quickly. The challenge is educating the public on this knowledge. Like all knowledge, it takes time to disseminate from the source of knowledge to all of society. Because knowledge is increasing in many areas so quickly, current textbooks in education institutions become outdated quickly in many fields.
RISK
Whether it is new discoveries within an industry, knowledge that needs to be disseminated to the public, or increase knowledge of the self and/or society to improve the human experience - the space between knowledge learned and shared and understand to the masses carries risk. As an example, either a pandemic or weather related events, getting the information out and known in a quick manner saves lives. For industry, newly obtained knowledge can increase the efficiency of an organization and open up new markets. It takes awhile to train staff on new knowledge and this delay costs money. The delay on learning and understanding ourselves is taking a long time. People are becoming more knowledgeable of the self. However, there is much wasted energy on conflict between individuals and nations that could be avoided if people had better understanding of themselves and how their brains worked.
STATEMENT
> Fear of knowledge - challenging worldview or losing position on a hierarchy
A persons worldview is built over a persons lifetime. New discoveries in knowledge threaten a persons survival. Another threat is a person not catching up or unable to keep up in knowledge. This falling behind is moving down a hierarchy and so a person dislikes/hates others who get smarter with knowledge. The reverse can also happen on a hierarchy where those who are up top of a hierarchy use their influence to keep the bottom of the hierarchy uneducated because of fear. They fear others will gain an advantage with knowledge and reduce their position.
RISK
For a society, the growth is slowed down and the whole of society loses out. With the advancement of nuclear and other weapons, individuals who feel their worldview is threatened take violence measures to harm others.
STATEMENT
> Stealing Knowledge
Human society competes and cooperates. Some will cheat and others will not. Those that cheat will seek to steal knowledge from others. Organizations are constant pressure to protect their acquired knowledge and competitive position.
RISK
An organizations competitive advantage is at risk as others seek to take their knowledge for their benefit. Private data is also at risk constantly for benefit and to harm others.
